Take It Easy And Slow

I spent my pre-Valentine’s day dancing and learning from the two professional choreographers here in the Philippines named Part Cruz and Gojie Chua. They have this annual dance collaboration and teach dancers but it only consists of limited slots because of the small venue that is located near Harbour square and folk arts theatre, across CCP. The studio is kind of like a big container style. It’s cool though because I’ve never seen and been to a studio like this. It’s different and unique pa kasi parang tagong place talaga siya around CCP. Only 20 to 25 persons can fit to that studio for a dance workshop. And this workshop costs for only 200 pesos for two and a half hours.

My two friends and I arrived a little late because of traffic but luckily, we reached the middle part of stretching. Then it’s time for introduction of the two choreographers and they first told us what they’re about to teach us that night, what the title of the song is all about, what this choreography is all about, and told us just to have fun dancing freely.
It’s hard to pick up steps when the choreography is getting too long. Hindi na siya ma-sink in sa utak ko kasi ang haba. And there’s a little bit of floor dance like sliding and medyo masakit sa tuhod but it’s okay kasi kaya nga ako nandoon it’s because I want to learn a new kind of dance, a new choreography, ganern. And one thing to learn and to practice here is how you make a character to this choreography. They told us that in this class, they just teach us the choreography and bahala na kami i-execute ‘yung mga steps but the most important thing here it to know how you put emotions to this choreography and to make a character. Because dance is an art, too. This choreography made by them is so special and emotional. It’s about love and lost.

When they’ve finished to teach us, it’s their time to show their craft to us. This two dance performers are just impeccably incredible dancers. They are great dancers and performers. They are such an inspiration to me because they brought something that is really an inspiring art. The details are very completely clear and amazing. Their moves are just wow. I cannot wait for their next workshop!

Wanna watch their choreography? Go and watch it here!
